Fantastic winning mural design
11th March 2016 by Farnborough Airport
This is the winning mural of a local design competition organized by the airport involving the Farnborough Sixth Form College. Artwork, by Graphic Design student Hannah King, has given colour and focus to the staff relaxation space at the offices of TAG Farnborough. Hannah, a second year at The Sixth Form College Farnborough, was chosen from a shortlist taken from over 70 submissions from other students, who responded to the Brief from TAG Farnborough.
Hannah said of her winning entry “When we were given the Brief we were asked to take inspiration from Sol LeWitt, due to the brightness of his work. I was also inspired by plane propellers, designing the geometric shapes around their fluidity and angles. . Entering the competition has consolidated my aim to follow a career path as a graphic designer and has benefited me in many other ways. Being selected to have my work displayed looks amazing in my portfolio for university interviews.”
“Community engagement is very important to us,” said Brandon O’Reilly, CEO TAG Farnborough Airport. “We are keen to support young people in developing their skills and talents and we were impressed with the high standard of competition entries. The vibrant, winning piece of artwork produced by Farnborough Sixth Form College Graphic Design student Hannah King, is now on display at the airport.”
The mural has been placed in the MeadowGate Building at the airport and provides a welcoming background to the rest area/chill out room for staff.
