We are looking to recruit an Airport Systems Development Apprentice who will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working closely with the Airport Systems Development Manager whilst working toward their Level 4 Applications Support Lead Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Airport systems are up to date and developed in accordance with business needs and to support the future success of Farnborough Airport Limited.

The successful Apprentice will be employed on a fixed term contract for 2 years.

The principal responsibilities of the role include:

• The apprentice will initially be working alongside the Airport Systems Development Manager to support in the evaluation of both present and future company needs for the Airport’s Operational Systems (systems relating to the handling of and service delivery to air traffic movements and those which interface with them).
• As the Apprentice develops and expands their experience, they will be expected to co-lead these activities.
• Assist in the planning and roll out of training for the ongoing improvements and new implementations of airport Operational Software
• Initially the Apprentice will take on a supporting role in managing the development of said systems but will work towards a more leading role with the final aim of being able to manage, with support, the end-to-end project implementation for new software/changes.
• Complete the system administration of Airport Operational Systems, including:
• Maintaining application support processes
• Developing workflow pans/technical specification road maps
• Diagnosing, resolving and recommending improvements to address hardware and software issues
• Liaising with third party vendors on improvements and resolution of issues
• Ensuring products comply with applicable regulation and legislation including Data Privacy and Cyber Security
• Work toward becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Airport Operational Systems
• Support in evaluating and streamlining of Airport Operations data flows
• Keep up to date with the latest airport IT technologies
• Continuously gain knowledge on Cyber Security current best practices to apply to existing and future developmental projects

About you

Essential

• Full, clean Category B (Car) driving license
• Must be able to meet CTC (Counter Terrorist Check) security clearance requirements
• Excellent standard of accuracy and professionalism
• Excellent technical and computer skills
• Minimum of 5 GCSE 9-4 grades (A*-C) including English and Mathematics or equivalent. If you do not have these grades but have completed numeracy and literacy Key Skills/Functional Skills at level two you may also apply for this apprenticeship.

Desirable

• Some experience of working in a project related environment
