What we are looking for

We are looking for a GIS Digital Data Technician to help us efficiently maintain the airport’s asset register and graphical record data to ensure the airport is able to continue operating and provide a world class experience to our passengers and colleagues.

Working with the Capital Projects, Planning & Estates Team, the successful candidate will ensure all data, maps and drawings relating to the airport campus and its associated assets and infrastructure are correct, version controlled, created (where required) and suitably updated.

You will work alongside 3rd party stakeholders to ensure as-built documentation remains up to date and relevant, ensuring any changes to building and utility infrastructure is captured and documented on master drawings.  

You will also work closely with our in-house Estates Team and maintenance partners to ensure a full asset register is collated, maintained, and remains compliant with any regulatory inspection regime required. This includes ensuring the information on the asset register is maintained sufficiently to feed into each year’s planned preventative maintenance schedules and the ongoing Capital Expenditure Plan to ensure asset replacement is carried out in an efficient and safe manner.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing and updating airport maps and drawings. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Lease plans.
  • Utility maps such as: electrical, communication services, drains, water pipes etc.
  • Site buildings.
  • Layout drawings.
  • Noise contours.
  • Site overview maps including driving maps.
  • Office layouts & dimensions.
  • Fire layouts plans such as: alarms\call points etc.
  • Airfield related drawings including runway thresholds, instrument landing system coverage etc.
  • Airside/landside boundaries.
  • Updating and maintaining the airport’s asset register. This involves ensuring all assets are correctly registered to meet the requirements of regulatory inspections and maintenance plans are created and co-ordinated with the relevant teams and stakeholders throughout the infrastructure life cycle. Running and analysing inventories of all assets.
  • Managing documents for the Estates department including creating and managing a naming convention (this may include managing the naming convention across the airport’s departments).
  • Organising and planning services, tests and inspections on relevant assets with the internal engineers and external contractors.
  • Filing and collating documentation such as processes, tests and certificates, purchase orders etc.  
  • Taking an innovative approach to your work, regularly seeking ways to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
  • Adherence to Safety and Compliance standards and Environmental policies/guidelines at all times.

About you

Essential

  • Trained and competent in using AutoCAD and Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
  • Working knowledge of data intelligence software such as Microsoft Power BI or similar.
  • Competent and experienced using Microsoft Excel.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a large commercial/industrial setting (airport experience not essential).
  • Experience of working with 3rd party stakeholders.
